The 17th Asia-Pacific Software Engineering Conference - APSEC2010 - will be held in Sydney, Australia, from 30 Nov - 3 Dec, 2010. Sydney is one of the leading economic centres in Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region. The conference venue is the Hilton Sydney, which is located in the heart of the city, near famous landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, and the Botanic Gardens.

Established in 1994, the Asia-Pacific Software Engineering Conference (APSEC) is the leading international conference in software engineering and technology in the Asia-Pacific region. APSEC 2010 will bring together researchers and practitioners from industry, academia and government to advance the state of the art in software engineering and technology and to encourage wider collaboration between academics and industry. The program will provide numerous opportunities for academic and industry participants to interact with and learn from each other.

The APSEC 2010 Conference organising committee are proud to announce the confirmation of the following keynote speakers:

Dr David Skellern
Chief Executive Officer, NICTA

Mr Martin Nally
IBM Fellow, CTO and VP, IBM Rational

This year the theme for APSEC 2010 is "software for improving quality of life". We celebrate software development for the common good and the improvement and access to services, from those that are a basic human right, to those that generally enhance our capacity to enjoy life. Recently, we have seen a great deal of increased attention and investment in this area of software development from both research and commercial spheres. Software developed to improve quality of life includes (but is not limited to) software for: improving Healthcare systems; enhancing passenger safety in transportation systems; improving access to education and training; enhancing security and the protection of individuals; understanding and protecting our environment; and recreation and entertainment innovations.
